Looking for a new concept while trying to find a new house? Would you like to try something original? Here are a few ideas:
Bridge House
Australian architect Max Pritchard got creative when requested by his clients to design a small house with a tight budget, while keeping the natural state of the property intact: a tall order? Perhaps.
But not too much for Max, who successfully created “The Bridge House” which stretches across a river valley and is surrounded by trees. Due to its environmental location, Pritchard was able to create the house to fit right in by designing it to include natural ventilation and cooling, as well as thermal windows and heat absorbing floors. The house also has a rainwater recycling system and solar hot water panels, which help keep costs down for the owners. A very environmental friendly house!
Tree Houses
Who didn’t enjoy tree houses as a kid? Ok, maybe those of us with vertigo, but for those of you who loved the experience of “living” up in a tree, albeit short lived with mother’s call to “come inside for dinner!”, you can now live this experience, for as long as you’d like.
There are different architects and companies that have designed and are designing tree houses, but Tom Chudleigh has definitely done something original with his tree houses named “Free Spirit Spheres”. Fitting name, after all living up in trees can give you a sense of freedom, don’t you think? These tree houses can be used as living quarters, meditation spots, meeting areas, you name it. They are eco-friendly and don’t obstruct the surrounding forest environment.
Earth Houses
‘Not to live under or in the ground but with it’ is what best describes the house designed by Swiss architect Peter Vestch. These hobbit-like houses are situated in Dietikon, Switzerland. He describes them as an “homage to the environment”.
